About the Artwork
Empowerment Through Knowledge: Empowering mob and community to speak up if they need help, and to get the help they need if they are at risk of cancer.
About the Artist
Talitha Podger is a proud Wemba Wemba and Mutthi Mutthi emerging Aboriginal artist who has been painting and creating art since 2021.
A busy working Mum with three daughters, Talitha, a self-taught artist, works on her art in her free time, preferring digital art creation due to it’s freedom and flexibility to create anywhere.
Talitha grew up with her Nana, until she passed away from pancreatic cancer when Talitha was just 12. At that time, Talitha, who knew of no other family, was placed into foster care.
Growing up, she began to link in with Aboriginal organisations who helped her find her family. While she is still on her cultural journey, Talitha maintains who she is and where she is from by creating stories through her art.
In 2023 Talitha was awarded the Eastern Metropolitan Region Art Award sponsored by the Mullum Mullum Gathering Place. She has also done some collaborations with the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre where she delivered an Aboriginal art workshop for children with cancer, and children whose family members have cancer. She also supplied Aboriginal colouring sheets to the Centre to support children when they are waiting in the hospital.
